Abstract

The text addresses an evaluative activity applied to a Consumer behavior class in which students should create and describe a meme starter pack, correlating it with issues inherent to the anthropology of consumption and cultural material. After gathering the works developed over three semesters, put together 59 starter packs, which will allowed to observe seven topics that most interested the students: Sports; Class; Technology; Music; Lifestyle; Sexuality; Politics; and Others. The content of the memes reveals that students choose to illustrate identities to which they belong, but also explore other social groups from which they radically distance themselves. This evaluative activity has proven to be effective in promoting understanding of the importance of practices and objects for the production of identities in the contemporary world.
