Abstract

The historical and cultural context of 19th century – with its complex
and broad changes which deeply affected the human experiences – has inspired different youth groups in their contemporary cultural dynamics. This paper analyses some proposals of the steampunks, who elaborate creative narratives with retro-futuristic aesthetic. It can be realized, in these experiences, the promotion of “lines of escape” which connote social-temporal uneasiness related to the contemporary.

Professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação da UERJ. Realizou dois estágios pós-doutorais em Comunicação – um na UFRJ e outro na PUC-SP - e Doutorado em Sociologia Política pela UFSC (com Doutorado Sanduíche junto a Université René Descartes-Paris V).
