Resumo

This exploratory study examines a curated set of influential contemporary educational podcasts in Spain to identify emerging patterns in production structures, hosting models, and discursive strategies. Drawing on genre theory, audience studies, and platform analysis, the article conceptualizes educational podcasting as a hybrid communicative ecosystem shaped by narrative experimentation, pedagogical intent, and algorithmic circulation. Data from major audio platforms were analyzed using a mixed-method coding protocol integrating formal, discursive, and platform variables. Findings reveal uneven professionalization, diverse pedagogical voices, and adaptive strategies for visibility in platform-mediated environments. The study contributes a theoretically grounded overview of Spain’s evolving educational podcast landscape.

Cruz Alberto Martínez Arcos, Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas

PhD in Philosophy (2012) from Birkbeck College, University of London; Master of Arts in Media and Communications (2006) from Goldsmiths College, University of London; Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Public Relations from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (2004). He has been a full-time professor (Category D) at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences Victoria, Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, since 2013. He is affiliated with the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences program. He is a member of the academic body “Regional History and Historiography” (UAT-CA-72). He holds the “Desirable Profile” certification (2014–2027), awarded by the Program for the Professional Development of Professors (PRODEP) of Mexico’s Ministry of Public Education (SEP). Francisco Javier Herrero Gutiérrez , Universidad Autónoma de Salamanca

Associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Communication at the University of Salamanca, specializing in Audiovisual Communication and Advertising. He earned his PhD in Social Sciences in 2013 with a dissertation on sports radio broadcasting, focusing on the linguistic and stylistic analysis of commentary within the Spanish sociocultural context. He is a member of the NAES research group (Audiovisual Narratives and Sociocultural Studies), where he develops projects centered on media communication and its social impact.
