Comunicação e práticas sociais no espaço urbano: as características dos Dispositivos Híbridos Móveis de Conexão Multirredes (DHMCM)

Abstract

Neste artigo descrevemos algumas características dos telefones celulares, definidos aqui como “Dispositivos Híbridos Móveis de Conexão Multirrede” (DHMCM). Devemos pensar esses dispositivos tanto por suas características intrínsecas como por suas particularidades sociais. Os telefones celulares encarnam, ao mesmo tempo, funções de conversação, convergência, portabilidade, personalização, conexão através de múltiplas redes, produção de informação (texto, imagens, sons), localização... Vamos mostrar também como as novas formas de produção imagética (fotos e vídeos) por esses dispositivos instituem uma sociabilização efêmera, o que marca um contato social midiatizado, não solene, fugaz, transformando esses formatos em vetores de sociabilidade e de comunicação. Abstract This paper aims to describe some characteristics of the cell phone, defined here as “Multi-networked Connected Hybrid Mobile Devices”. We must think of these devices looking for its intrinsic characteristics and also on its social particularities. The cell phones incarnate, at the same time, con-versational functions, media convergence, portability, personalization, connection through multiple nets, mobile production of information (text, images, sounds), localization... At the end, we’ll try to understand the new social functions of the image production by cell phone (photos and videos) and argue that these images create an ephemeral form of socialization.
