About the Journal

The journal Comunicação, Mídia e Consumo is a continuous publication published in digital format by the Graduate Program in Communication and Consumer Practices at ESPM-SP. For more information about PPGCOM-ESPM, please visit our website here.

Its editorial line focuses on addressing relevant themes in the field of Communication, understood here as a complex sociocultural process and practice. Articles must be theoretically grounded, drawing on different authors within a given theoretical perspective in order to develop a critical reflection on the topic addressed. In the case of empirical studies, in addition to contextualization and descriptive analysis of the material, the journal prioritizes articles that present a theoretical-interpretative analysis of the aspects observed in the corpus.

The journal accepts submissions from authors holding a PhD, or from PhD and Master’s students in co-authorship with PhD holders. The journal operates on a continuous submission basis. Therefore, there is no deadline for the submission of articles (in the open submissions section) or critical reviews.

In order to ensure agility in scientific dissemination, the journal is aligned with Open Science practices and accepts articles deposited in preprint repositories such as SciELO Preprints, MediArXiv, SociArXiv, and OSF Preprints.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public promotes greater global democratization of knowledge. Our articles are published in open access under the Creative Commons Attribution license, which permits use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, without restrictions, provided that the original work is properly cited.
